Frames
Choosing A Frame
Choosing the right frame can be overwhelming. We are here to make that decision easier for you. There are several items you should take into consideration to make this important decision.
Frame Use - What tasks will you be doing when wearing your glasses?
-Reading?
-Driving?
-Computer work?
-Playing sports?
-All of the above?
This is important to know when choosing a frame. Your optician will know what frames work for what activities. Just let him or her know when you come to see us.
Face Shape - Here are recommendations of what shape frame goes with the shape of your face:
Oval - The oval face has a chin that is slightly narrower than the forehead. The cheekbones are high. This is the easiest face to frame style. Because the oval face is balanced, frames should be as wide as the broadest part of the face. A good frame recommendation for the oval face is either a rectangle or square frame.
Diamond - The diamond face has a narrow forehead with wide temples that gradually narrow to a small chin. Frame recommendations should serve to widen the top half of the features. Good frame selections are either a rectangle or an oval shape that is top-heavy.
Round - If you have a round face, the frames should serve to thin and elongate your features. Good frame recommendations include rectangle or oval shapes that are top-heavy.
Square - In the square face, the jaw line and forehead are strong and broad. The chin and cheekbones are somewhat angular. Preferred frame shapes are either round or oval to compliment the facial features.
Triangle - The triangular face has a narrow forehead, but the cheeks and chin are full. Good frame considerations for you are either rectangle or square shapes that are top-heavy.
Inverted Triangle - If your face is shaped like an inverted triangle, look for a frame that de-emphasizes the widest feature, the forehead. The best frame recommendations are either round or square-shaped frames.
Material - Frames come in many materials, such as plastic, metal and titanium. They even make them in memory-metal that bends without breaking, for those of us who are a bit harder on our frames. Consider what is comfortable for you, as well as what works with your skin type. Some people have allergic reactions to metal which can irritate your skin or change the color of the frame. Talk with your optician to see what's best for you.
Style and Brand Preference - Your eyeglasses should be a reflection of your personality. You should think of it not only as a medical device, but as a part of your wardrobe. We have over 2000 frames so you're sure to find the ones that fit your personality (or multiple personalities).
